Student Life
Holiday Break
We wish all of our families an amazing holiday.  This Thursday, December 21st is an early dismissal at 11:30 am.  There will be no After School Care.  LCS offices will be closed over break as well.  We will see everyone back in 2018 on January 3rd.  

LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers Game 2.17.18
Please join us for our first LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers game on 2.17.18!  Our LCS High School Chorus will be performing “God Bless America” and some of our students will be featured in other fun activities during the game as well as all LCS ticket holders will receive a free Checkers hat!  Tickets are only $16 and can be purchased onMPPuntil February 13 and $5 from each ticket comes right back to Lincoln Charter School!   Tickets will be delivered to your child’s homeroom by Feb. 16. Please direct any questions to Melissa Peterman.  

MS/HS Lost and Found
Our lost and found in the MS/HS office is overflowing.  Any items not claimed by January 5th will be donated to a local organization.

Biscuits are Back
Biscuits are back for breakfast for all students K-12!  Every Tues and Thurs biscuits will be delivered fresh to your student’s classroom by 7:30 am.  We are selling Plain Biscuits for $2.00, Cinnamon Raisin biscuits for $2.50, Sausage Biscuits for $3.00 and Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuits for $3.50.  Place your orders on MyPaymentsPlus by Friday at 12pm for Tuesday delivery and by Tuesday at 12 pm for Thursday delivery.  Thank you in advance for your support, all profits benefit K-5 classrooms technology needs!

Athletics
Queen City Clash
Both the Varsity Mens and Womens Basketball teams will be playing in the Queen City Clash tournament over the break.  The games will be Thursday Friday and Saturday.  More information about the Queen City Clash will be sent out later this week.

Talon Challenge
Talon Challenge versus Thomas Jefferson will take place on January 19 at the Lincolnton Campus.

PTO
The Lincolnton PTO extends wishes to all our students, families, faculty and staff for a blessed holiday season. Whatever you celebrate, may it be a happy time with loved ones.

Sock Drive
LCS 5th Grade is “Kicking-Off” our Annual Sock Drive.  Please bring in any size, color or style of socks and drop them off in the Christmas boxes in each building. All socks will be donated to Christian Ministries on December 20. Thanks so much!

“Wonder” Movie
MS will be going to see the movie “Wonder” before the holiday break. 6th grade will be going on 12/19 and 7/8th grade will be going on 12/20. This is a great opportunity to reinforce our community expectations. We will travel to the Birkdale Theatre to watch the movie, eat lunch, and return home. Sign up for the field trip via MyPaymentsPlus. Cost is $10 for the ticket. Students will have to bring their own money for lunch; please do not order lunch on Apple a Day. Students should wear their red field trip shirts on this trip.

Save your Coats!
We need your support!!!  The Middle School Bible Believer’s Club will be having a coat drive for Christian  Ministries of Lincoln County starting January 8  through January 26. As  you purchase new coats for Christmas gifts this year or as you children outgrow their coats please consider donating your gently used, clean coats to Christian Ministries. We want all students and adults to have a good warm coat!!! There will be collection boxes at the office in each building!!!

High School Happenings
HS Mid-Terms
HS students will be wrapping up mid-term exams tomorrow, Wednesday, December 20th.  HS Students do not attend school on Thursday, December 21st if they have completed their mid-terms.  This day is dedicated to make up mid-terms only.

Summer Opportunities
Summer Ventures in Science and Math is offering a 4 week inter-institutional program of the University of North Carolina System.  It is open by application to all rising high school juniors and seniors.  SVSM provides NC’s high achieving students a cost-free opportunity to undertake investigative studies at one of our four participating university campuses (App State, ECU, UNC Clt, and UNCW) in the summer.  For more information about the program, please click here.  The application for Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics 2018 is open now,  Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2018.

The Honors Experience is a one-week (June 24-29, 2018) college immersion for academically gifted and talented students who are currently in the 9th-11th grade.  The program is held on Gardner-Webb’s main campus in Boiling Springs, NC.  Students will participate in two credit bearing college courses that are designed to help them develop the confidence needed to continue in their pursuit of academic excellence, engage in academics with Christian faith, and experience the impact of service learning.  If accepted into the Honors Experience, students will be automatically invited to GW’s Ignite Excellence Scholarship interviews during their senior year of high school.  Please click here for eligibility and more information about this experience.  Spots are limited!

Scholarship Opportunities
The Golden LEAF Scholarship Program will award up to 215 grants, each valued at $12,000 for the 2018-19 academic year.  For more information about this scholarship, please click here.  Application deadline is March 1, 2018.
