LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers Game 2.17.18
Please join us for our first LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers game on 2.17.18!  Our LCS High School Chorus will be performing “God Bless America” and some of our students will be featured in other fun activities during the game as well as all LCS ticket holders will receive a free Checkers hat!  Tickets are only $16 and can be purchased onMPPuntil February 13 and $5 from each ticket comes right back to Lincoln Charter School!   Tickets will be delivered to your child’s homeroom by Feb. 16. Please direct any questions to Melissa Peterman.  

Athletics
Queen City Clash
Both the Varsity Mens and Womens Basketball teams will be playing in the Queen City Clash tournament over the break.  The games will be Thursday Friday and Saturday.  More information about the Queen City Clash will be sent out later this week.

Talon Challenge
Talon Challenge versus Thomas Jefferson will take place on January 19 at the Lincolnton Campus.

Used Uniform Sale – Starts at 5:30pm Tonight
Tonight is our Used Uniform Sale before and after the Elementary Holiday Program. Stop by the Upper Building Multi-Purpose Room to save money on gently used uniforms. Cash or checks only please.

Elementary Winter Holiday Program Tonight
Machado Gym 6:30pm (6pm student dropoff)
This is always a great evening and a wonderful way to get into the Holiday spirit. Elementary students should be dropped off at the Upper Bldg by 6:00pm, wearing Red Uniform Shirts and Khaki bottoms.

Elementary Winter Class Parties
Elementary parties are this week Thursday, December 21st, 9:30am-11:00am. This is a half-day for all students and they can wear any LCS t-shirt with jeans. Visitors arriving early will be asked to wait in a separate waiting area until parties begin at 9:30am to limit distractions. Please contact your class Room Parent with any questions. Elementary Excitement
Thank you to the efforts of Mr. Hutchinson’s HS Art students.  These art project will be completed by students in Guatemala as they work to raise funds for their education there. Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3

Thank you to Sra. Straub’s Spanish 4 HS students for working on a Service Project creating craft packets for students in a Guatemala school to make and sell to raise funds for college. Photo 1.  

Middle School Moments
Christmas Party
All three grade levels will be having feasts on Thursday December 21.  Please look for electronic signup sheets being sent out by grade level teachers.  Students should also wear either Christmas pajamas or ugly Christmas sweaters on that day.  The entire middle school will also enjoy a movie following the feasts.

Summer Opportunities
Summer Ventures in Science and Math is offering a 4 week inter-institutional program of the University of North Carolina System.  It is open by application to all rising high school juniors and seniors.  SVSM provides NC’s high achieving students a cost-free opportunity to undertake investigative studies at one of our four participating university campuses (App State, ECU, UNC Clt, and UNCW) in the summer.  For more information about the program, please click here.  The application for Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics 2018 is open now,  Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2018.

The Honors Experience is a one-week (June 24-29, 2018) college immersion for academically gifted and talented students who are currently in the 9th-11th grade.  The program is held on Gardner-Webb’s main campus in Boiling Springs, NC.  Students will participate in two credit bearing college courses that are designed to help them develop the confidence needed to continue in their pursuit of academic excellence, engage in academics with Christian faith, and experience the impact of service learning.  If accepted into the Honors Experience, students will be automatically invited to GW’s Ignite Excellence Scholarship interviews during their senior year of high school.  Please click here for eligibility and more information about this experience.  Spots are limited!

Scholarship Opportunities
