- Student Life
The Talon Challenge was started in 2009 to build upon the rivalry between Thomas Jefferson Classical and Lincoln Charter with a goal to instill an atmosphere of service within the schools’ athletic departments. The schools identified the V Foundation as the recipient of all proceeds from this event. The V Foundation was chosen for multiple reasons: its relevance to North Carolina, the foundation’s pledge that 100% of direct donations would fund cancer research and the impact that cancer has had on both school’s communities.

Treats for Troops
Once again it is time to begin to think about Treats for Troops. For those of you who are new to our community, Treats for Troops is a chance for LCS students and staff to show their appreciation to active members of the military from our LCS community. Each student and staff member writes a letter to a service member and then packs it into a bag along with prepackaged treats. These bags and letters are then mailed all over the world to active military family members of our LCS community. Any extras are taken to the USO at Charlotte Douglas airport where military members and their families can enjoy them. We have done this project school-wide for years and years and each year we hear back from military guys and gals from all over the world. So what do we need from our LCS community?
