It is with great excitement that we announce the new LSE Volunteer Website to keep track of student volunteer hours. x2Vol brings new features such as more flexibility in account management, input itemized volunteer hours, view LCS service hour goals and hours accumulated, access many LCS community volunteer opportunities and so much more! Yearbooks
Yearbooks for each level are on sale through Jostens now.  LCS produces three different yearbooks and you can order online at Jostens.com.  

Please note that students in both Lincolnton and Denver share a combined book at each level, so there is no need to differentiate between campuses.  

Yearbook Recognition Ads
The last day to complete ads is February 12.
Now is the time to gather those photos of your “babies” young and old.  In addition to high school seniors, elementary and middle school “graduates” will have the opportunity to be featured in the ads section of their respective yearbooks this year.  Go to Jostens.com to upload pictures, enter your message, choose your layout and pay for your ad. Please note: All steps must be completed online prior to February 12.

The 2018-2019 Academic Calendar has been released and is posted on the LCS website.  

Half Day After School Plans
Tuesday February 20th, 2018 is a half day for students due to professional development for our staff.  We will offer After School Care on this half day from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm for K through 8th grade students.  If you have not yet registered for our ASC program, you must do that prior to your student attending this Thursday.  There is an optional field trip to Kate’s Skate in Gastonia offered for your kiddos.  Payment MUST be paid in advance on MPP in order for your student to attend the field trip.  We will have onsite activities for students not attending the field trip.  Please click here for full details for this day.

Spelling Bee Awards
Congratulations to Daniel Moazzami for representing LCS in the District Spelling Bee on Jan. 30th at Metrolina Scholars Academy.  There were 15 participants and Daniel finished 7th overall.  Also, thank you to Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Zappone for escorting Daniel to the Bee as well as our LCS runner up, Nic Munro-Tavormina, who went to give his support to Daniel.  We are so proud of Daniel for being our LCS Spelling Bee winner this year.  Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3

Elementary Sweetheart Ball – Friday, 7pm-9pm
Get your tickets, the dance is this week Friday! All K-5 students are invited to attend with their parent/guardian. Tickets are on MPP and are $5 for one child+adult, or $10 per Family. Tickets at the door increase to $6/$12, respectively. Volunteers are needed and should contact Lisa Pleasant and indicate availability. K-5 Staff and their families are invited to attend at no charge and should RSVP with this form.

PTO Board Nominations – Now through February 26th
Are you looking to take a more active role at our school? Being a part of the the PTO Board or on a PTO Committee is a great way to do it! We have positions for all levels of availability. Don’t be afraid to inquire and see what may be a good fit. Nominations can be made using this nomination form. If you have any questions, please email us.

Box Tops Olympics – Elementary & Middle School
Our Box Top Olympics have begun! Elementary classes can compete for the Bronze, Silver or Gold level awards by sending in unexpired Box Tops to their Homeroom teacher. More details about these awards were provided in our PTO Newsletter last week. Middle School classes are competing against eachother for a No Uniform Week. Middle School students can turn in unexpired Box Tops to their homeroom teacher. Contest Ends Friday, February 16th.

Track Attack 2018 Logo Contest
We are now accepting entries for our Track Attack Logo Contest to find a new design for the next three years. Flyers were sent home to all Elementary School students. Middle & High School students received an email last week with more information. Contest is open to all students and ends March 9th. Check out our website for more details. We are excited to see everyone’s ideas.

Spelling Bee
Congratulations to 8th Grader Daniel Moazzami for representing LCS and finishing 7th in the District Spelling Bee at Metrolina Scholars Academy.  Congratulations to Nic Munro-Tavormina for finishing as the LCS Runner-up and District Alternate.  A special thank you to Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Zappone for escorting and coaching our spelling champions.

High School Happenings
Parent College Info Sessions
February 6th & 8th
Does applying for college seem like a daunting task?
Lincoln Charter’s Guidance Department and Administration will hold several sessions that will give age-specific information to parents – to empower parents to advocate and support your child(ren) throughout the college application process. These sessions will last approximately an hour and are open to all interested parties, regardless of location.

Topics that will be covered:
What specific steps should I take during my child’s freshmen/sophomore/junior year?
What role does Lincoln Charter take during this process?
What are my child’s responsibilities during this process?
Lincoln Charter representatives will also be on hand to answer questions – following the presentation.Click here for more details

ACT Test February 27, 2018
LCS will administer the State Mandated ACT test to all Juniors on February 27th. The test will begin promptly at 8:00 am and be finished approximately 1:00pm.  For more information, please see the following page…  ACT 2017-2018 Information Letter.

Additionally, Sophomores and Seniors will not be required to come to school that day, but will be responsible for completing assignments posted to CANVAS or provided from their teachers.  This opportunity will be treated as an E-Learning Day and the expectation is that each student complete the work on time.  Freshman, will come to school and participate in the Freshman Experience. Community News
Engineering Camp
Engineering Camp Charlotte is a summer engineering program offered at Queens University in Charlotte.  We accept students in grades 3 – 11.  Throughout the week students work in small teams to solve challenges using the engineering design process.  High school students will work with community mentors to help design a project of their own centered around the 14 grand challenges.  

Elementary/6th Grade Boys Lacrosse Club
There is a local lacrosse club looking for players in the Denver area.  If you have an athlete interested in boys lacrosse, please contact Coach Butlak at eagles.lax17@gmail.com for more information.  This is not a LCS program, however, it is our goal to partner with the Eagles Youth Lacrosse Club to build interest in the sport.
