Lincoln Charter is excited to celebrate the 10th annual Talon Challenge Week! Please come out to Thomas Jefferson on Friday 1/25 as the Eagles take on Thomas Jefferson starting at 4pm for MS Basketball.
Talon Challenge Spirit Week
All students and staff are encouraged to participate in Talon Challenge Spirit Week by wearing the designated color associated with each day. K-8 students are not required to meet K-8 dress code requirements if they are participating in the Spirit Week theme days (please adhere to HS Dress Code). All grade levels are required to follow HS Dress Code during spirit days.
Students are asked to wear the following colors each day next week:

On Thursday 1/24, select XC and Track runners will be running from Denver to Lincolnton at 8:15am. They should arrive at the Lincolnton campus around 11:00am. The list of students from each campus will be shared shortly. Students will then eat lunch with the TJ students and coaches at City Lunch before heading back to school.

No Uniform Tuesday – Tuesday, January 29th
Purchase your No Uniform Day pass on MPP and take advantage of the opportunity to come to school out of dress code. No Uniform Tuesday passes must meet HS Dress code requirements. Funds raised support Lincoln Charter initiatives.

All Pro Dads
Our next All Pro Dad’s breakfast is scheduled for this Friday, January 25th, 2019 in the multi-purpose room. We will meet from 7:15-8:00 a.m. and will provide light breakfast items.
Come out and join us for a time of fellowship and an opportunity to kick off the new year in a powerful and meaningful way as a family. We will spend time sharing the importance that we as father figures play in the development of our child/children. We look forward to seeing you Friday! LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers Game 3/1/19
Please join us for our second annual LCS Spirit Night at the Charlotte Checkers game on 3/1/19! Our LCS Elementary Chorus will be performing “God Bless America” and some of our students will be featured in other fun activities during the game. All LCS ticket holders will receive a free Checkers hat! Tickets are only $16 and can be purchased at GOCHECKERS.COM/LCS. $5 from each ticket comes right back to Lincoln Charter! Driver’s Education Class (Lincolnton Students Only)
Driver’s Ed registration is open now for the class at the Lincolnton campus in March. See details below.
Dates: March 12th-March 28th (No Friday classes)
Location: Lincolnton Campus Multi-Purpose Room
Time: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Lincoln County School Board Driver’s Ed Fee: $50.00
(Check or Cash will not be accepted)
Seats: By law the class is only allowed 50 seats per class. This class operates on a first come first serve basis. There are less than 25 seats available at this time.
Your student must be able to attend each day (only 1 absence allowed) and be there for the final exam on March 28th. Student must be at least 14 ½ years old on or before the first day of class.
Driver’s Education Registration Information
To register your student for Driver’s Education Class (Lincolnton Students Only), please go onto your MyPaymentsPlus account for your student to fill out the registration form and remit payment ($50). If you do not pay at time of registration, a seat will not be reserved for your student. Payment secures your student’s registration and seat. Once the class is full, the fee will be removed from MyPaymentPlus. For any questions, please contact Jessica Kelly.
Summer Driver’s Ed dates and registration will be announced in March.
Coffee & Conversation
All families are invited to join us for Coffee & Conversation with members of Administration. These sessions are an opportunity for you to meet with your student’s building administrator over coffee and light refreshments. We look forward to conversations to strengthen our community. Please RSVP by completing this form.
Please note that students in both Lincolnton and Denver share a combined book at each level, so there is no need to differentiate between campuses. Order by February 1 to guarantee current prices.
Yearbook Recognition Ads
Now is the time to start gathering those photos of your “babies” young and old. In addition to high school seniors, elementary and middle school “graduates” will have the opportunity to be featured in the ads section of their respective yearbooks this year. Go to Jostens.com to upload pictures, enter your message, choose your layout and pay for your ad.
The final deadline for purchasing ads is February 16.

The Lincoln Charter Volunteer Webpage is now active! This is your one stop connection to see and schedule most volunteer opportunities that LCS has to offer the Engaged Eagle.
Bookmark this new site and use it on the go with your cell phone. Keep in mind that you can still use the free Sign Up Genius phone app. This new site should make volunteering an easy and fun way to participate in your student’s school. Remember our goal is 30 volunteer hours per family.

Dancing Through The Decades
The PTO will host an Elementary school dance for grades K-5 on Friday, Feb. 8th.
Come dressed as your favorite decade! The time is 6 pm – 8 pm in the HS/MS multi-purpose room. Cost is $10 per person in advance on MyPaymentsPlus or $15 at the door.
There will be a DJ and a photo booth. Food will be available for purchase.

Valentine’s Candy Grams
On Thursday, Feb. 14th, the PTO will deliver personalized Candy Grams throughout the school. Got a secret crush or a favorite teacher? Purchase your Candy Grams on:
Thursday, Feb. 7 from 7 am – 8 am. Tables will be set up in the MS/HS building near the band room and other locations on campus.
Friday, Feb. 8 from 7 am – 8 a m in the MS/HS building near the band room and 11 am – 1 pm in the multi-purpose room during lunch.
Cost is $1.00.
2019-2020 Board Elections
Nominations will be opening soon for election of next year’s PTO Board. Your participation is needed! Watch for more information on how you can be on the ballot and help serve our school as part of PTO.

K-5 Classroom Needs
Our K-5 classrooms are running out of cleaning wipes (for desks and other equipment) and facial tissue (Kleenex). If you happen to have any extra to donate, please drop them off in the elementary front office! Thank you so much for your help!
Club/Mentor time on Fridays 2:00-2:45 pm
If you are coming to pick up your child during club/mentor time, you will be asked to walk to the building your child is in to pick him or her up after checking in at the front office. All adults in K-5 are working with kids during that time and cannot leave to walk kids to the office. Thank you for your help with this!
High School Happenings
All juniors are required to take the ACT test on February 20th. There will be no classes for 9th, 10th, or 12th graders on this day. This only applies to the Lincolnton Campus HS Students.

HS College Information Nights
Lincoln Charter School will be holding information sessions for
Parents of 9th and 10th graders on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 8:30 am at the Denver Campus and 6:30 pm at the Lincolnton campus.
The information session for parents of 11th graders will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 8:30 am at the Denver Campus and 6:30 pm at the Lincolnton campus.
Sessions are open to all LCS parents regardless of which campus students attend. Topics to be covered include a brief overview of: Tips for College Planning, College Resources for Students/Families, Choosing the Right College, College Visits and Deadlines, and Financial Aid Resources. Sessions will last approximately one hour in length and time will be provided for questions.
