Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming and it’s going to be Dino-Mite!
Book Fair Dates: April 8th – 12th in the Elementary Gym

Monday – set-up and preview day – No Sales
Tuesday – Sales from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm! Join us 3-5 for “Broadway Beats” at 6:30!
Wednesday – Sales from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Thursday – Shop early! Sales from 7:15 am – 3:00 pm.
Friday – Party and Shop! Spring Parties from 10:00-11:00! Sales from 8:00-11:00. Book Fair break down will begin promptly at 11:00.

We take cash, check, credit card, or Scholastic Student eWallet (visit the website for more details).

Can’t make it to school? Shop online April 1st-16th.

Spring Festival
April 26th
Let’s get together and celebrate the Spring Season! Join us at the Lincolnton Campus on Friday, April 26th from 5:00-8:00 pm.  The evening will include a performance by the HS Band and an Art Show. In addition, there will be interactive activities and more!  Click here for more information.

Summer Driver’s Ed
The NC Driving School will be holding two Driver’s Ed classes at Lincoln Charter this summer. There will be a class at the Denver campus from June 3-June 7 and one at the Lincolnton campus from July 22-July 26.  Both classes are from 8:00 am-2:30 pm. LCS will NOT provide transportation between campuses for Driver’s Ed.  Registration will be limited to 50 students. Sign up and registration is open on My Payments Plus.  Students must be 14 ½ years old on the first day of driver’s ed class in order to be eligible. Contact Jessica Kelly (Lincolnton) or Lois Strain (Denver) with any questions.

Coffee & Conversation
All families are invited to join us for Coffee & Conversation with members of Administration. These sessions are an opportunity for you to meet with your student’s building administrator over coffee and light refreshments.  We look forward to conversations to strengthen our community. Eagle Volleyball Clinics
For any rising 9th-12th grader who is interested in trying out for volleyball next year, there will be an interest meeting held on Monday, April 8th at 3:15 in Coach Lauren’s room (Denver Campus, lower building room 129).  There will also be an interest meeting in Lincolnton on Wednesday, April 10th at 3:15 in the HS gym. This meeting is for the players only. There you will receive information on summer workouts, camps, and tryouts. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please fill out this form so the coaches can forward you the information.  If you have any questions please contact Coach Lauren or Coach Shane.

Engaged Eagles
The Ambassador Program steering committee had its first meeting this week. You are invited to join and continue the development with this dynamic group.  We are looking for more Engaged Eagles to be active and positive ambassadors for Lincoln Charter. Consider joining the fun! You may make a lifelong friend, and of course, you will share your Eagle pride.  This is also a great way to accumulate your expected volunteer hours! There are many volunteer opportunities for the month of April. This week is the Elementary Art Show and next week is the DinoMite Book Fair. Please consider volunteering in at least one activity this spring.   The Friday after we return from spring break is the Spring Festival. Summer Camp
Registration for Summer Camps at Lincoln Charter School is now open!  Please visit our website to see our brochure with information about Summer Day Camp at both campuses, and for an updated list of Sports and Scholar Camps offered so far.  More will be added soon! MS/HS Float Friday is this Friday, April 5th at lunch. Cost is $1.

Elementary Excitement
Elementary Art Show
This Thursday, April 4th from 4:30-6:30 pm in the elementary gym.
Each of Mrs. Swengros’s art students will have a piece in the art show.
Students may take home their artwork from the art show or it will be returned to them by Friday.

We do still need volunteers to set up (3:30-4:30) and take down (6:30-7:30) the art show.  Please contact Abby Swengros if you can help.

Due to the art show this week, STAR club will meet next Thursday (April 11th) from 3-4pm in the art room.  

Middle School Moments
MS Semi-Formal Dance
The MS Semi-Formal Dance will be on Friday, May 10th from 7-9pm in the MPR. This is for students in 7th and 8th grade. The cost is $15 per student. This will be available on My Payments Plus until 3:00 pm the day of the dance.

Remember that this is a semi-formal which means that this is NOT as formal as prom/wedding.  A tux or a formal dress are not required. Please be mindful of this and be mindful that this is a dance! You will be dancing! Wear something that is nice, but that you can still dance in and that keeps you appropriately covered. Below are some guiding rules:

  • No midriffs (exposed stomachs or mid to low backs)
  • No visible undergarments
  • Fingertip length skirts
  • No low-cut front or back
  • No jeans
  • No sagging pants
  • Dress shirts with collars are appropriate
  • Sport coats and ties are optional

High School Happenings
SciVisit at Gaston College
On April 5th, 2019, all Lincolnton Campus high school students will travel to Gaston College to participate in the fifth annual SciVisit.  This trip is a required event for all Lincolnton Campus high school students. Any students not in attendance on the day of the trip will incur an unexcused absence.  Buses will depart campus no later than 8:15 am and are expected to return around 1:45 pm. Students will need to bring bag lunches with them to eat on the bus as there are no food vending services on campus at Gaston College.

During SciVisit, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medical (STEMM) faculty at Gaston College lead interactive sessions for high school students at various locations across campus. This year’s session topics include chemistry, biotechnology, biodiversity, anatomy and physiology, computer security, psychology, math, disease transmission, robotics and health among many others.  In addition, our students have the opportunity to experience a community college campus.
