Congratulations to all the student-athletes who will be competing for Lincoln Charter this fall.  Those of you who have physicals that are expiring soon, please make sure you get a new physical and file with Ms. Elizabeth ASAP.  Even in season, if you have an expired physical, you will not be allowed to participate.

Engaged Eagles
Engaged Eagles are those who support our students by volunteering at Lincoln Charter School.  Our original charter challenged each family to volunteer 30+ hours every year. We give a warm welcome to those who can spend time volunteering on campus. Don’t forget to invite grandparents as they may log hours for your family too.

Volunteer opportunities are continually being added to the sign up.  Check back often, and sign up for events that suit your schedule. I look forward to meeting you!

PTO
New Parent Coffee
New Parent Coffee will be held on Friday, September 6th from 8:00 – 9:00 am in the Lower Building Media Room (6th grade hallway). This is an opportunity for new parents to get to know one another, meet the administration, and find out what the school & the PTO have to offer. New parents in any grade are invited, as well as veteran parents to welcome them.

K-5 Room Parents Needed
Room Parents are needed for many K-5 classes. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are interested. It’s a great way to be involved at the school and directly with your child’s class and teacher. Our room parent coordinator Joyce Goodman, will help you every step of the way or answer any questions you may have about the role.

2019-2020 Budget Approval/PTO Meetings
The PTO Board recently approved the 2019-2020 PTO Budget. Please take a look at the proposed budget and vote here

PTO meetings are typically held the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Upper School Multi-Purpose Room. Please note that our September meeting, however, was held on  Monday, August 26th at 6:30pm because of the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Please feel free to join us for these meetings!

Elementary Excitement
Please attempt to avoid any early dismissals between the 2:00 PM and 2:50 PM time as we have students changing classes, in special area classes, and on the playground during that block.  This makes it very challenging for your child to gather his or her items and be ready for an early pick up. Also, if you are picking up early, Rescue Squad Park is an ideal location as we begin double stacking carpool and parking buses around the building at 2:00 PM.

Thank you for your support!

Middle School Moments
Nests
We will have our Nest Induction Ceremony on Friday, September 30th for all 6th graders and new-to-LCS 7th and 8th graders. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Nests, they are a “house” system in which middle school students are separated into 6 teams.  Throughout the year, students will compete in various challenges to earn “points.” Students can also earn points by being “caught” embodying the community expectations.
This year Nests will be a little different.  Each semester students will have the opportunity to choose to participate in either Nest Intramurals or Nest Brain Games.

Follow your Student’s Schedule Night
Thursday, September 5th 6:30 pm
Parents and students are encouraged to attend this evening.  Families will be following their individual student’s schedule and receiving valuable information from the teachers about their classes.

MAP Testing
All middle school students, grades 6-8, will take a Beginning-of-Year (BOY) MAP test.  MAP is a nationally normed assessment that predicts a student’s current level of achievement in both Math and Reading.  MAP also provides predictors to a student’s potential successes for the end of the year. MAP allows the school to identify student strengths and areas for growth, which provides teachers with valuable information to differentiate instruction for each individual student.
