Purchase your No Uniform Day pass on MPP and take advantage of the opportunity to come to school out of dress code. No Uniform Tuesday passes must meet HS Dress code requirements. Funds raised support Lincoln Charter initiatives.

Presidential Volunteer Service Award
At the annual 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance assembly, the following students were recognized for going above and beyond with their service hours. The students listed below received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for the period of June 1, 2018 – May 31, 2019. Click here to see the list of award winners.
2nd Annual Fall Festival
Friday, October 25th
The theme for this year’s event is College Traditions. The Fall Festival will wrap up Lincoln Charter’s annual College Week! Details will be coming soon about how you can show your college spirit!
Odyssey of the Mind
All students who are interested in participating in the Odyssey of the Mind Club are invited to attend the first practice after school this Friday, the 20th. Middle and high school students will gather in Mrs. Amos’s room, and elementary students will meet in Mrs. Nichols’s room to discuss team options and begin to choose long-term problems.
Your trash is our treasure…
Odyssey of the Mind Club needs your help! We are in need of gallon & 1/2 gallon milk jugs, as well as two liter drink bottles, all with lids. Our project calls for a lot of these items,and any help is truly appreciated. Please wash out the containers and bring them by the Upper Building front office by September 20th.
Special Education Connection
The Exceptional Children’s Division of the Department of Public Instruction has added a new feature to their website to increase ongoing parent communication. If you are interested in getting their new parent newsletter, please go to http://www.ncpublicschools.org/, click SIGN UP FOR UPDATES on the top left side, enter your e-mail or text contact, and finally under RESOURCES select “Exceptional Children’s Information for Parents.” This newsletter will be put out by the parent advocate at the EC Division of DPI.

Denver Lower Gym
We are excited to prepare for the Track Attack celebration on October 11th. Track Attack is the PTO’s main fundraiser and concludes with a celebration day at the school. You can volunteer to help make this annual event a huge success. Volunteers can help with the 5K Trail Run/Walk, Elementary Fun Run, games, activities, music/dancing, and more. Clear your calendar and don’t miss this event!

Track Attack – Friday, October 11th
We have raised $5,334 towards our $85,000 goal. Use your child’s line item in MPP to be sure they get credit for the donation. You can also pre-register for the 5K ($20) or purchase an extra t-shirt ($10). Don’t forget many companies will match your donation so please indicate any match on your MPP donation where prompted.
Business Sponsors Thank You and T-shirt Deadline Reminders
Business Sponsor funds must be received by September 26th at 3:00 pm to be printed on our t-shirts. LCS Family Businesses can donate on MPP. Funds from all other sponsors can be sent in with a sponsor form to your child’s teacher (K-5), or given directly to the front office staff in either building. Sponsorship is still accepted after this date and will be promoted by the PTO, however we cannot guarantee inclusion on the t-shirt. Half Day After School Plans
Wednesday September 25th, 2019 is a half day for students due to professional development for our staff. We will offer After School Care on this half day from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm for K through 8th grade students. If you have not yet registered for our ASC program, you must do that prior to your student attending. There is an optional field trip to Zootastic Park in Troutman, NC offered for your kiddos. Payment MUST be paid in advance on MPP in order for your student to attend the field trip. We will have onsite activities for students not attending the field trip. Thank you to Ms. Amanda and all of our friends at Carolina Eye Care. They were able to screen over 280 students in grades k, 1, 2, and 5. If your student received a notice home that further investigation is necessary, we encourage you to follow up with your provider or Carolina Eye Care for further treatment. Vision is one of the primary modes of learning, especially at the lower grade levels. We greatly appreciate their entire staff’s donation of their time and resources!

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER!
Parents of 9th-11th Graders: We will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT for Sophomores and Juniors on October 16, 2019 and the PSAT for Freshman on October 16, 2019.
PSAT/NMSQT (Sophomores and Juniors)
Juniors who take the exam are eligible for consideration into the National Merit Scholarship Program. Sophomores, this practice test provides an opportunity to gain experience with the PSAT/SAT format and to see how the questions are structured. Registration is open on MyPaymentsPlus for 10th and 11th graders and will be open until September 18, 2019. The cost for the test will be $18.00 (registration is automatic upon payment).
PSAT 9 (Freshmen Only)
The PSAT 9 exam measures reading, writing, language, and math skills developed over many years, both in and out of school. You will not be asked to recall facts from literature, history, or science, or to complete math formulas, due to the test only measuring your reasoning and critical thinking skills. Freshmen, this practice test provides an opportunity to gain experience with the PSAT / SAT format and to see how the questions are structured. International Trip to Spain- June 2020
INFORMATIONAL MEETING TONIGHT at 6:30 pm in Ms. Straub’s room (186 Denver Upper Building).
Ms. Straub has been working with WorldStrides to organize a trip to Spain for summer 2020.She worked with them several years ago to run a trip to Peru and the students had such a wonderful time! The trip is the first two weeks of June (a perfect graduation gift for some!).

This is a Semi-formal event; no jeans or shorts allowed.
Non-LCHS Guest Form
Thursday, October 10th- North Carolina State University, Raleigh
Registration is available on MPP now – October 3rd.
Students will depart LCS at 7:00 am and return at approximately 8:00 pm.The fee is $30.00 per student, paid through MPP. That price includes lunch and motorcoach transportation. Students who normally ride the school bus will need to make alternate arrangements.
Junior Junction is a tradition at Lincoln Charter. It serves as a marker in your high school career as you prepare to take the next step in your educational journey!
Please note Junior Junction is a required event. If a Junior does not attend the trip, he or she will be marked as an unexcused absence. There will be no classes for Juniors on this day. If a student cannot afford this trip, please contact Mike Lungarini about financial assistance.
Class of 2020 Field Trip – NC State Fair, Raleigh
Thursday, October 24th
Students will depart LCS at 8:30 am and return to LCS at approximately 10:00 pm.
This is an optional field trip for members of the senior class. Students register on MPP. The cost is $30 per student and covers motorcoach transportation and gate admission. Students are responsible for their own ride tickets and food. Seniors are required to update their LSE hours on x2Vol in order to participate.
