Hi, my name is April Belcher. I started teaching last January at Lincoln Charter School. This is my first full year teaching special education here in a 3rd grade classroom. I am so excited to be a part of LCS and teaching special needs children. This is my tenth year teaching. I taught in CMS schools in self-contained cross categorical and resource classrooms. Then, I taught resource in a private school. I took ten years off to be a stay at home mother and home schooled my own children for 3 years. During my time home, I was a private tutor for various students of varying subjects and grades. Then, I taught a year of preschool, and was a substitute for Lincoln County Schools and for LCS in all areas and grade levels. I served as an Interim Kindergarten teacher at Iron Station Elementary School in Lincoln County in 2010. Then finished out last semester here at LCS in a special education classroom.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from UNCC and also received my certification in Regular Education last year. I have experiences in regular and in many special education classrooms with many different special needs students. I look forward to this year with my third grade students. I absolutely love teaching children. I believe all children can learn, given the right environment, techniques and materials.
