I graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education, Math and Science Concentration. I really enjoyed my time there, and am always happy to talk with students who are interested in attending there! Currently, I am working on my master's of education through Gardner-Webb University. I am very excited to be graduating in May 2012!
I taught in Charlotte-Mecklenburg (Kennedy Middle, and Albemarle Road Middle) for 3 years, then moved to Lake Norman Charter School for 11 years, and this is my 3rd year at Lincoln Charter.
I have two children, Jake (4 years) and Emma (6 years). Emma will be a 1st Grader at LCS this year! My husband teaches 9th grade World History and coaches the high school soccer teams here at Lincoln Charter.
I grew up in Michigan, and am a huge Wolverine fan! It's been a tough couple of years for Michigan football, but I have no doubt that things will start looking up soon!
In 2008, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and have since been declared cancer-free! I have headed up the LCS Relay For Life team the past two years, which is a huge cancer research fundraiser. Last year, LCS raised a little over $7,000 for the event. All told, the East Lincoln Relay For Life event raised over $142,000!
