I am a graduate of Western Carolina University with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and a license in PE and Middle School Language Arts. After college I worked at a camp for at risk youth in Floral City, Florida. While at camp I learned many valuable lessons. Not many people know that this experience allowed me to live outdoors in a tent for 2 ½ years, or that I can build a tent made from towering pines with the help of twelve girls and a few handsaws. I joined the LCS team on November 13, 2006 after moving back to N.C. As a team, the 6th grade teachers strive to help our students adjust to middle school while providing a safe learning environment. My students are aware that I am an active volunteer for Hesed House (local homeless shelter) and I encourage them to volunteer as well. My hobbies include hiking, bottle digging (old bottles), and making silly sock creatures.
