Tanya Jones

My name is Tanya Jones.  This is my fourth year teaching at Lincoln Charter High School and my seventh year teaching.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education and a minor in Special Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, home of the best football team in history!  GO STEELERS!

I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a 4.0 and my Master's in Literacy with my thesis "Haunting the Classroom: Using Gothic Related Literature to Promote Literacy, Motivation, and Critical Thinking."

Not only am I working diligently on my career and my education, but I also write contributions for research based collections.  This includes a piece on best-selling author Neil Gaiman called "The Mythological Dimensions of Neil Gaiman" out in 2012 and another on best-selling author John Connolly coming out in 2013.  I will also be co-authoring articles this fall for various scholarly journals.

My husband, Doug, and I live in Charlotte in a beautiful home with our wonderful Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Arwyn, and our Siberian Husky, Lycan.  When I'm not teaching, you can normally find me curled up on my chaise lounge with a book, writing in my papasan chair, working out at the gym, or cooking for a dinner party.  Like anyone, I also love to relax with my friends (many of whom are staff members) with a classic film, dinner, trivia, or a game.

"Trust your heart and trust your story." ~ Neil Gaiman
