Hello! My name is Tara Haug and I am an Exceptional Children's Teacher for K-5 for the 2010-2011 school year. I thoroughly enjoy the teaching profession and all the rewards it provides. Working with children with in the classroom to achieve their educational, developmental and social goals is what I strive to do daily. I work with a wonderful team who loves learners, learning and the teaching life.
A little about myself. I was born and raised in Salisbury, North Carolina. This is my fifth year at Lincoln Charter School (third year in the Exceptional Children's Department and two years previously as a second grade teacher). Before coming to teach at LCS I taught three years in first grade for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I also attended Queen's University where I received my Masters of Art in Teaching (MAT) K-6. In 2009 I received my certification in Special Education as a Highly Qualified Teacher for grades K-12. Through my continuous education and the students thirst for knowledge, it has been a wonderful journey to discover uncharted territory while illuminating the lightening-life of the mind.
I am the proud mother of two wonderful children. My daughter, Zoey is a Kindergartner at LCS and my son, Lawson, 3, attends HPC Preschool in Huntersville, NC. Their optimistic views on life are an inspiration for me on a daily basis. We enjoy riding bikes, playing games, and simply spending quality time together.
I look forward to a wonderful year ahead and all that it entails!
