Veterans Day 2022

Veterans Day 2022
This is the image for the news article titled Veterans Day 2022Our Veterans Day event is, by all accounts, one of the best of every school year.

At the Denver Campus, Veterans were celebrated with a breakfast and program where elementary students sang “I’m Proud to be an American” and Veterans were honored by the individual branch of the military in which they served. Six Veterans from Eagle Nation also sat on a panel and answered questions from students on the high school Eagle Advisory Council. They gave insight into their experiences by sharing why they chose to join the military, what their first days of boot camp were like, and how their service still affects them today. This event closed with Veterans exiting the building to find the entire school lining their walk, cheering, shouting “thank you!”, waving flags, and holding signs they’d made. Many in attendance were misty-eyed at the outpouring of support and respect.

At the Lincolnton campus, art classes worked weeks in advance to design and paint a large mural to celebrate the occasion. This piece was also used as a backdrop for anyone looking for a quick photo. The LCS band performed a patriotic program, and the event ended with a parade of veterans. Many of those who have served drove cars that they, or their loved ones, had decorated with streamers, balloons, and signs bearing their names and details of their service.
