Pink Out
LCS is getting ready to go PINK for our annual Pink Out fundraiser and staff vs. staff dodgeball game!  Student Leadership Team is leading Pink Out again this year and all proceeds will go to Carolina Breast Friends.   The annual staff vs. staff dodgeball game will be occurring on October 31st.

Here are the following fundraisers that will be occurring in the month of October:


  • Pink Out T-Shirts!! These will only be on sale until Wednesday, October 11th!  Visit My Payments Plus now to purchase your Pink Out T-Shirt.  You can choose which team you support by purchasing the shirt for that team. Each team will have a different color pink shirt. Cost of shirt is $12.


  • MS/HS Concessions – every Tuesday and Thursday in the month of October Student Leadership Team will be selling concessions during lunch. All proceeds on these days will go towards Pink Out so bring your $ and visit the SLT table at lunch.
  • Pie in the Face – If a teacher gets $75 donated towards their name via My Payments Plus Pink Out Donation they will get a pie in the face on Oct. 31st.  Visit My Payments Plus to donate and choose the teacher you want to get pied.

Biscuits are Back
Biscuits are back for breakfast for all students K-12!  Every Tues and Thurs biscuits will be delivered fresh to your student’s classroom by 7:30 am.  We are selling Plain Biscuits for $2.00, Cinnamon Raisin biscuits for $2.50, Sausage Biscuits for $3.00 and Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuits for $3.50.  Place your orders on MyPaymentsPlus by Friday at 12pm for Tuesday delivery and by Tuesday at 12 pm for Thursday delivery.  Thank you in advance for your support, all profits benefit K-5 classrooms technology needs!

Town Hall Meeting
The first LCS Town Hall Meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:00 pm in the MPR.  We hope you will join us.

Family Fun Night was a great success, thank you to everyone who came out for the fun, food and games, AND the ever-popular raffle baskets. The PTO would especially like to thank all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event happen.

Talon Walk Volunteering
We need volunteers for this Saturday’s Talon Walk 5K ant Color Run. Workers are needed for setup, course guides, registration and many other areas. Students are gathering pledges for the Talon Walk Student Fun Run on Friday, Oct. 6. Talon Walk is the PTO’s major fundraiser, please pledge generously. Emails and fliers have been sent out with details. Family donations can also be made at MyPaymentsPlus.

MS Halloween Dance Thursday, October 19th from 7-9pm
The MS Halloween Dance is getting closer! This dance is for grades 6-8; LCS students only.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Buy your tickets now on My Payments Plus!

Dress Code Reminder
As temperatures start to drop we are seeing more hoodies and jackets in class. Just a friendly reminder that any jacket must be solid in color and cannot have logos on them. Hoods are not to be worn inside the building.  MS Dress Code

High School Happenings
Dream Big Trip
Sophomores received information on the Dream Big Trip application last week.  The applications close this Thursday, October 5th at 5:00 pm.  Students interested in applying can access application here.

PSAT / NMSQT- October 11th
The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on October 11th. Any 9-12 grade students not taking the exam do not attend school on this day.  All students that have signed up for the test have received transportation details/sign up from Mrs. Withers. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Withers.

ACT Student Champion Award
Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place.

ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition.

Please encourage students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria to apply:

  • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
  • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.

Artistic Seniors
If you are thinking about majoring in Art & Design, here’s your opportunity to show off your portfolio to colleges and universities.  There will be a National Portfolio Day event in Charlotte, NC on November 11, 2017 from 12:00-4:00 pm..  Visit for more information about specific events and participating colleges and universities!

Financial Aid Info Sessions
Attention Seniors and Parents, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens on Oct 1, 2017!  CFNC representative, Timeka Ruffin, will be here to provide information and answer any questions that you might have about filling out the FAFSA.  She is a great presenter who is very knowledgeable about the financial aid application process.  Lincoln Charter–Lincolnton Campus  will host this session on:
