LCS Athletics Character Expectations: Leadership, Character, Sportsmanship

LCS coaches and teams have set themselves apart as some of best in the state on the 1A & 2A level. At LCS, we are continually working on improving our athletic program. It is the goal of the program to develop young athletes into strong community members that understand how to be leaders with strong character – while showing sportsmanship on the playing surface. The athletic department will be using the LSE program as a means to incorporate service learning within LCS Athletics. We expect each team to develop leaders within each program. Leadership has nothing to do with titles and age. The goal of the LCS program is to develop young individuals into leaders whatever role they take on a team.

Character should be developed within the LCS team concept. Athletes are expected to see their role as an LCS student-athlete as more than just being a part of a sports team but as a way to involve themselves within the LCS community for good. Each athlete will represent LCS in a positive manner at sporting events, in school, and in the community. Each team will be expected to organize and execute a LSE event as a team within the LCS community. If you have any questions on LSE please contact the AD or administration. Please visit the LSE portion of this site for more information.

Student-athletes are expected to represent LCS on the playing surface in a positive manner. Sportsmanship is expected from both coaches and athletes. We expect our coaches' actions to lead our athletes in a manner that displays sportsmanship. We desire to be the team that schools enjoy playing. Our words and actions before, during, and after a game should be used to build relationships with other schools. Social media and other forms of communication should not be used by athletes or staff to belittle other teams and competitors.
