NEW Breakfast and Before School Care Options
Congratulations to all the student-athletes who will be competing for Lincoln Charter this fall. Those of you that have physicals that are expiring soon, please make sure you get a new physical and file with Ms. Elizabeth ASAP. Even in season, if you have an expired physical, you will not be allowed to participate.
Welcome back, Engaged Eagles!
Engaged Eagles are those who support our students by volunteering at Lincoln Charter School. Our original charter challenged each family to volunteer 30+ hours every year.
Last year we recorded 3,713 volunteer hours! This number doesn’t describe the amazing amount of fun, accomplishment, and change that happened on our Denver campus. Volunteers make it possible for the school to conduct programs that enhance the educational environment of our students and assist teachers in the continued success of their classrooms. Thank you to each and every volunteer!
Volunteer opportunities are continually being added to the sign up. Check back often, and sign up for events that suit your schedule. Engaged Eagles have been active on campus this month, and I look forward to meeting you!

New Parent Coffee
Friday, September 6th
New Parent Coffee will be held Friday, September 6th from 8:00am-9:00 am in the Lower Building Multi-Purpose Room. This is an opportunity for new parents to get to know one another, meet the administration, and find out what the school & the PTO has to offer. New parents in any grade are invited, as well as veteran parents to welcome them.
Open House Success
It was great seeing so many new and familiar faces at Open House last week. Our uniform sale raised approximately $250 for our PTO. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to shop and say hello! Please reach out to Lisa Ralph for your future uniform needs during the school year.

September PTO Meeting
Monday, August 26th
PTO Meetings are typically held the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Upper School Multi-Purpose Room. Our next meeting, however, is Monday, August 26th at 6:30 pm because of Labor Day. Everyone is automatically a member of the PTO and we welcome your opinions and questions. Come to a meeting and see what we do. It is a very casual environment and we would love to have you!
Middle School Moments
We will have our Nest Induction Ceremony on Friday, September 30th for all 6th graders and new-to-LCS 7th and 8th graders. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Nests, they are a “house” system in which middle schoolers are separated into 6 teams. Throughout the year they will compete in various challenges to earn “points.” Students can also earn points by being “caught” embodying the community expectations.
This year Nests will be a little different. Each semester students will have the opportunity to choose to participate in either Nest Intramurals or Nest Brain Games.
We will be bringing back our ever-popular Mix-it-Up Lunch challenge for MS. This year instead of solely focusing on music, we will incorporate tv, movies and general trivia into the competition.
High School Happenings
Class of 2020 Meeting
Tuesday, August 20th, 6:30 p.m., Machado Gymnasium
Parents and students are encouraged to attend the class meeting. All dates and events for senior year will be covered.
The Crucible Auditions
Auditions are coming up for this year’s high school play, The Crucible. Step into the world of the Salem Witch Trials, a time of discord, distrust, and despair, where mass hysteria is the law of the land, and anyone can be next on Salem’s hit list.
Show dates for this production are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 7th, 8th, and 9th. If you would like to audition for this show, come to the Multipurpose Room after school on Monday, August 26th or Tuesday the 27th. Additional information about the characters, as well as a sign-up sheet, is posted on the bulletin board just outside the Multipurpose Room.
To prepare for auditions, please have a contemporary dramatic monologue ready. The monologue does NOT need to be memorized. Auditions are open to all high school students!
The Blind Eagle Auditions
The theater club is also holding auditions for this year’s Blind Eagles Improv Group. In this show, there is no script and no stage directions, just you, your partners, and all of the crazy scene games that are guaranteed to leave everyone in stitches. From “Party Quirks” to “Let’s Make a Date” to “Scenes from a Hat,” you’ll get the chance to practice all sorts of games and activities in making up and acting out scenes on the spot.
This performance group will meet twice a week during the club and study hall period, and there will be several shows throughout the year that will allow you to flex your comedic muscles for a live audience. Auditions will be in the Multipurpose Room at 3:00 on Thursday, August 22nd. No monologue preparations are needed. Just come in and be ready to think on your feet!
The Blind Eagles: where you never see what’s coming, and neither do we!
High School Powerlifting Club with Mrs. Thompson will begin Monday, August 26th. Powerlifting is weight training with a focus on squat, bench press and deadlift. There is a powerlifting competition held at the school on November 2nd for anyone interested in competing.
The club will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays every week until November 2nd. Meetings will take place right after school, in the weight room, until 4:00. Students can come for any or all of the days.
If you are interested, please stop by Mrs. Thompson’s room (182), sometime before lunch for a sign up sheet, or send an email to Jennifer.firstname.lastname@example.org
