The Foundation for Education Releases Lincoln Event Complex Master Plan Following Special Use Permit Approval

IRON STATION, N.C. — May 15, 2026 — The Foundation for Education has officially released the master plan for the Lincoln Event Complex following the approval of the project’s Special Use Permit Amendment by the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners at its May 4, 2026 meeting.

The approval marks a major milestone for the transformative project, clearing a significant regulatory hurdle and moving the vision one step closer to reality.

Designed as a multi-functional campus for both Lincoln Charter and the greater community, the Lincoln Event Complex will serve as a destination for athletics, arts, academics, and community events. The long-term vision for the campus includes a performing arts center, stadium, athletic fields, trail system, gathering spaces, and additional amenities designed to enhance educational and community experiences across Lincoln County.

“This approval affirms the vision and potential of this space,” said Tom Brooks, Board Chair of The Foundation for Education. “We’re grateful to the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners for their support and look forward to continuing the work to make this dream a reality.”

The release of the master plan represents the next phase of development as project partners begin advancing detailed planning, infrastructure coordination, and pre-construction efforts.

RJ Leeper Construction has been selected to lead the project’s pre-construction management, providing expert oversight and strategic planning throughout the early stages of development. Stewart, Inc. has been engaged for civil engineering services, including site planning and early infrastructure support. Morris-Berg is serving as the architectural partner for the project.

The Lincoln Event Complex is envisioned as a long-term investment in the future of Lincoln County that will create opportunities for students, families, and the broader community while expanding access to high-quality facilities and programming.

Current plans include launching a capital campaign and hosting a groundbreaking celebration in late summer 2026. The project will be developed on a progressive timeline, with the stadium anticipated to be ready for play by fall 2027.

Additional updates, timelines, and opportunities for community engagement will be shared as the project progresses.

The project is overseen by the Foundation for Education and supported by the Lincoln Event Complex Committee, which meets regularly to provide guidance and keep the project on track.

More updates will follow as progress continues. For more information about the Lincoln Event Complex and the Foundation’s mission, visit:
